DR GWENDOLYN HUSTVEDT is the Assistant Director for Graduate Studies and Research and an Associate Professor of Textiles in the School of Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) at Texas State University. Gwendolyn served as Graduate Adviser for the Interdisciplinary Studies MS/MA in Sustainability Studies for 3 years and lead the successful effort to create a Sustainability Studies MS/MA at Texas State, the first university-wide multidisciplinary graduate program of this type in Texas. She teaches sustainable consumer theory with a focus on life cycle analysis and home/natural resource/political economics. She also teaches a freshman level textile science course to hundreds of students each year, including future FCS teachers from around the state of Texas.
Her research in consumer science focuses on product development with an emphasis on labeling and consumer use of information.
